Adaline's Birth Story

Adaline was born on June 14th, 2012. I was induced a week prior to her due date because my doctor was going out of town and I really wanted him to be there. I went in to the hospital around 5:00 a.m. and was given pitocin around 6:00 a.m. I think I may have dilated two centimeters on my own and I was having contractions but I could not feel them. I was pretty set on getting me epidural early so I would not have to endure any pain. Why would I when I didn't have to anyway!?!? So they started my epidural and the doctor came in to break my water. THE. WORST. PAIN. EVER.!!! My doctor was kind of shocked that I could feel it as much as I did. They came in and did some other things too and I could feel EVERYTHING so obviously my epidural was not working. The anesthesiologist came in and redid the epidural. Still nothing. My contractions were beginning to get more intense as time went on. I was not having contractions in my stomach but more so in my bottom area (trying to spare all of the gory details for my two readers). They tried to redo the epidural four times and I still could not get any relief. If you have never had an epidural, the actual needle part is not as bad as you would think. The worst part is getting in the crouching position while having contractions, hugging a pillow, and then the tingling sensation. Ugh, like nails on a chalk board, but not painful. I was sweating profusely throughout the whole ordeal.
I also had lots of anxiety about the pain I would feel when the she made her entrance into the world. That part really wasn't bad compared to everything else. About 4:00 things got really, really bad. I pretty much told the doctor to knock me out and take the baby. I was in tears and was in so much pain. The anesthesiologist came back and gave me something to calm my nerves which helped me concentrate on my breathing. At about 6:00, I was exhausted and the doctor told me I was ready to push. A couple of pushes and Adaline Kate English entered the world weighing 7lbs, 4 oz.
I had some minor back surgery in February of 2011. All we can figure is the scar tissue from that surgery kept the medicine from the epidural from getting where it needed to go. The doctor was going to try to give me an epidural below my surgery scar but by the time everyone figured out what was going on it was time to push. I have so much respect for those mama's that choose natural child birth because it is no joke!
I would do it all again and endure all the pain to have my sweet baby Adaline. She is the sweetest thing ever! God truly blessed our family!

Weekend Recap

The weekend was good. I had a bad headache all day Friday, I skipped the gym, and picked the kids up and we took a trip to Walmart. Lane loves looking at the toys and Adaline just goes along for the ride. Saturday morning I cleaned house and just had a lazy morning. We met my parents for lunch and then headed home for naps. Chris got off and we played outside for a bit and then went to cheddars for dinner. On Sunday we went to church and I went for a run while Chris fed the kids. He then went golfing. After naps, we went for a walk and played outside until dinner time. Pretty exciting stuff I know!!!

Adaline is starting to get brave while standing. She is starting to let go
Of what she is holding onto while she is standing. She will be moving up at church next Sunday. Lane said several funny things over the weekend. He said "mama come here it is an emergency it is an emergency". He dropped a tiny piece of grape on the floor. He also likes to get In Adaline's crib. Yesterday he was crawling out of it and he caught himself from falling and said "I saved my life". Ha! He also said oranges are tasty. I can never get him to eat oranges.

Super busy week this week. I just got to my office after a 5 am workout with Elizabeth. I have so much paperwork to do. I have three meetings on Wednesday and I will be heading to Athens Thursday afternoon for a work conference on Friday! Wahoo!

Adaline got her first taste of sand too! She loved crawling in the play house.

Clay...or not

Chris' parents (Momo and PawPaw) came to eat dinner with us Wednesday for Chris' birthday. After a yummy steak dinner, I was chatting with Momo and Pawpaw and playing with Adaline. Pawpaw got up and picked up something off the floor that was under the coffee table. As he picked it up and gave it a little squeeze he asked is this lane's modeling clay. Oh no it was poop that had fallen out of Adaline's diaper that I had just changed. Eewww! I have never laughed so hard!!!

I kept Libby and Rylan Tuesday night so our friends could have a date night on their Anniversary. The kids had so much fun together!

BirthDay and Birth Story!

Happy Birthday to my sweet husband! We love you very much and hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day! I am so thankful that God blessed our life with yours! You are a truly amazing father and I would not want to spend my life with anyone else.

Chris and I celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a date night. Thank to Leigh and her girls for watching our kiddos. Lane had a blast with Emma and Laralee. (I hope I spelled that right)

Lane's birth story...
Lane was due October 13th. I was swelling really bad and feeling really, really huge by Friday, October 2nd. I decided I would take a week off before my due date to rest and relax before Lane's arrival. At this point, I had decided that he was not going to make his appearance without a little help because I had not dilated or progressed in any way.
I was having a very difficult time sleeping during the last month of the pregnancy, which I think is God's way of preparing women's bodies to survive without sleep for when the baby comes. Anyway, around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 6th I got up and went to lay on the couch. A little time passed and I took a trip to the bathroom. As I stood up, I thought gosh I guess I had to go to the bathroom more than I thought. I experienced a little trickle before actually making it to the restroom. Lovely! This repeated itself several times. After finally realizing that my water may have broken around 4:30, I went in to the bedroom and told a snoring Chris that I thought my water had broken. He said "It is supposed to be a gush, come back to bed". I could have kicked him. At this time, I started having mild contractions. Being the stubborn and strong willed person that I can be at time, I was determined to get dressed and ready and drive myself to the hospital. Ha! I took a shower, fixed my hair, put on my makeup and got dressed. Finally about this time, Chris decided he better get up and get ready. I was so thankful for the time I had to shower and get ready before heading to the doctor's office. I called the doctor and they said to come on into the office. It was about 7:00 by this point and my contractions were getting worse. More like bad cramps. At the doctor's office, the doctor hooked me up to a monitor and checked me. I made him tell Chris several times that my water had broken so I could say I told you so. I told my doctor I was ready for my epidural now. He laughed and I told him I was not kidding. Shortly after that, they had me WALK down a few flights of stairs to the hospital and check-in.
I got checked in and was taken to a labor and delivery room. Pitocin and the epidural were given to me quickly and at 6:02 p.m. I gave birth to a 8lb, 6 oz. perfect baby boy. During the labor, i caught up on some TV, talked on my phone, texted friends, and really just hung out. It was flu season and chris was the only one allowed in the room. It was pretty boring. After calling my mom several times in the waiting room, she said are 't you supposed to be having a baby. Ha! The labor and delivery were perfect. I never felt a thing. It could not have gone more smoothly. I pushed for maybe ten minutes and felt great after about a week. I did run a fever after getting home and had to go to the doctor for antibiotics but other than that everything was great. Lane was a sweet baby! I still remember Chris carrying Lane around the house when we got home from the hospital and giving him the tour of our house. My heart just swelled! He did have lots of ear infections and got tubes around 9 months.

During my pregnancy with Adaline I never stressed about the labor and delivery because I knew it would be smooth and easy just like Lane's... I was really wrong!
TO BE CONTINUED.

Adaline Kate

How is she 10 months old already?!?! Adaline, you are the sweetest baby! Lately, you have started loving to sleep. We will have to wake you up at 8:30 in the morning. You always wake up happy but with some super wild hair. You have brought so much joy to our lives and I never knew my heart could love you and your brother so much. Lane adores you! He gets so tickled and excited when you do new things! Lane also likes to say things to you like "you know better" and "cut it out". You love to stand up! And you are so ticklish! I love you sweet baby girl!

Weekend recap

Where did the weekend go? I hosted a baby shower at my house over the weekend for my office's super sweet secretary. The cake looked and tasted AMAZING! The shower was lots of fun! Several of my friends are pregnant now and I can't wait to help throw them showers too! Two of my friends, who are also part of our small group at church, have waited many years to become pregnant. Their faith in God as the ultimate planner has taught me so much. Their sweet babies are such a blessing and I can not wait until they are here. God does everything in his own and perfect timing!

On another note, some trees blew down at the Ingleside house today. It is my dad's rental house in Macon. Such a mess! A huge tree took out another tree and blocked the neighbors car in the garage.

This week I plan to document the birth stories of the kiddos... Stay tuned...

Not really what I was going for...

This morning I had gotten ready for church. I was actually wearing a dress and thinking I looked half way decent. Well as I was helping lane put on his shoes lane told me I looked like a fireman. I said I was trying to look like a princess not a fireman. He said no you look like a orange fireman. Well good....

You never know...

Well when you are the parent of a little boy you never know what you are going to get when they come knocking on the door. Lane was outside with Chris and knocked on the back door. When I opened the door he had this little guy in his hand! He said we needed to get him a bed and let him swim at night. Ummm No! Every time Lane put the frog down it would hop and Lane let out the loudest, happiest squeal. We finally talked him into putting him back in the pool where he came from. Not so sure the little guy made it through the night after all the excitement Lane put him through.

Tennis shoes and tissues

One of the purposes of my blog is to document the silly things the kids say. This morning I was in the shower coughing due to sinus congestion. Lane comes running in saying are you ok mama? Do you need a tennis shoe?

He calls tissues tennis shoes. Ha!

Wee ball

Like I said in the previous post Lane is playing wee ball. Well recently there hasn't been much playing. We left before his last game was over because he was hungry, wanted to play with dogs, and climb the fence. Yesterday he had practice which consisted of him playing in a mud puddle, running through open fields, and wanting to see geese. By the end of practice he had wet shoes and socks and was crying because they were wet. Gotta love a boy!

Adaline moved into a new room on Monday at daycare. She loves it! She is so happy to crawl around and play with all the new toys. She also sported a pony tail or sprout as I like to call it this week. Picture coming soon.

Race cars!

We went with Chris' family to Gatlinburg on for a few days on spring break. Lane was so excited to spend some time with his cousin Landon. We went to Dixie Stampede. Lane went up in a helicopter, rode race cars and other rides. He also went up on the mountain in a tram. I am not crazy about heights so I decided I would hold down the fort on the ground. We had a nice trip even though the ride up there took 9 hours thanks to an avalanche blocking 441. On the way home traffic was awful in Atlanta and Adaline was screaming because she had an ear infection. It was nice to get away from home for a few days and I made time for some outlet shopping. Can't wait to head to the beach this summer. Lane loves the beach and is already talking about it.

After our spring break trip, Chris and I went to the opening day Braves game. Tickets were his Valentine's day present. It was lots of fun and they won!

Blogs

Well...here I am. I am going to attempt this blogging thing. Again. I am such a blog reader. I love reading about people's lives that I don't know for some reason. And I love reading blogs of people I do know, however I am hesitate to tell them that I read their blog because I don't want to be a stalker. Anyway I need to devote some time to documenting the days of my sweet family rather than reading others blogs or at least if I read others blogs I should have one too.  I am terrible at baby books, taking pictures with a camera, and taking videos of the kids (yes Mom I know this).  Hopefully with the new iPhone capabilities I can keep track of our adventures.  I do not want the kids to think that we never took them anywhere or did anything.

Adaline will be 10 months old on the 14th.  She recently started crawling.  In the past two days, she is standing up everywhere and is getting around a little two quickly for this busy mama.  She loves to clap and bounce up and down, and play peek-a-boo.  Adaline is still toothless.  Dr. Vernon says they are in there somewhere.  She loves puffs but is having trouble eating 3rd foods.  She gags easily.  Adaline is a great sleeper...which didn't happen until about 6 months.

Lane loves his little sister SOOO much.  He gets tickled by every little thing that she does.  He will be 4 in October. So hard to believe. He is so smart and funny.  Lane picks up on everything.  He know all of his colors and shapes. He knows the pledge of allegiance, ABCs, and other songs.  He is currently interested in letters.  Lane knows that his letter is L and can spot it anywhere.  He even thinks 7s and 1s are Ls too.  Lane is already interested in what time it is and still takes great naps.  He is playing wee ball too.  Not going so great.  He gets pretty upset when he doesn't get the ball...we left last game before it was over.  He is just an overachiever.

I am still working with the Board of Education as a school psychologist...talk about an adventure.  This time of year is absolutely CRAZY busy.  CRCT testing is currently going on and it is hard to get anything done.  AND I lost my jump drive.  I pray that it turns up tomorrow.  It has so much important stuff on it.  I have found a new hobby...exercising.  I have completed two 5Ks and joined the gym.  I have lost some weight but have about 15 more lbs to go to get back to wedding weight :)  I can do it!

Chris is still working for Radiology Associates.  His work schedule is not very family friendly, meaning he works every other Saturday and until 8pm some nights.  But it is a blessing that he has a great job.

Anyway we have some fun things planned in the next few months so I will make sure I keep documenting the days.
