BirthDay and Birth Story!

Happy Birthday to my sweet husband! We love you very much and hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day! I am so thankful that God blessed our life with yours! You are a truly amazing father and I would not want to spend my life with anyone else.

Chris and I celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a date night. Thank to Leigh and her girls for watching our kiddos. Lane had a blast with Emma and Laralee. (I hope I spelled that right)

Lane's birth story...
Lane was due October 13th. I was swelling really bad and feeling really, really huge by Friday, October 2nd. I decided I would take a week off before my due date to rest and relax before Lane's arrival. At this point, I had decided that he was not going to make his appearance without a little help because I had not dilated or progressed in any way.
I was having a very difficult time sleeping during the last month of the pregnancy, which I think is God's way of preparing women's bodies to survive without sleep for when the baby comes. Anyway, around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 6th I got up and went to lay on the couch. A little time passed and I took a trip to the bathroom. As I stood up, I thought gosh I guess I had to go to the bathroom more than I thought. I experienced a little trickle before actually making it to the restroom. Lovely! This repeated itself several times. After finally realizing that my water may have broken around 4:30, I went in to the bedroom and told a snoring Chris that I thought my water had broken. He said "It is supposed to be a gush, come back to bed". I could have kicked him. At this time, I started having mild contractions. Being the stubborn and strong willed person that I can be at time, I was determined to get dressed and ready and drive myself to the hospital. Ha! I took a shower, fixed my hair, put on my makeup and got dressed. Finally about this time, Chris decided he better get up and get ready. I was so thankful for the time I had to shower and get ready before heading to the doctor's office. I called the doctor and they said to come on into the office. It was about 7:00 by this point and my contractions were getting worse. More like bad cramps. At the doctor's office, the doctor hooked me up to a monitor and checked me. I made him tell Chris several times that my water had broken so I could say I told you so. I told my doctor I was ready for my epidural now. He laughed and I told him I was not kidding. Shortly after that, they had me WALK down a few flights of stairs to the hospital and check-in.
I got checked in and was taken to a labor and delivery room. Pitocin and the epidural were given to me quickly and at 6:02 p.m. I gave birth to a 8lb, 6 oz. perfect baby boy. During the labor, i caught up on some TV, talked on my phone, texted friends, and really just hung out. It was flu season and chris was the only one allowed in the room. It was pretty boring. After calling my mom several times in the waiting room, she said are 't you supposed to be having a baby. Ha! The labor and delivery were perfect. I never felt a thing. It could not have gone more smoothly. I pushed for maybe ten minutes and felt great after about a week. I did run a fever after getting home and had to go to the doctor for antibiotics but other than that everything was great. Lane was a sweet baby! I still remember Chris carrying Lane around the house when we got home from the hospital and giving him the tour of our house. My heart just swelled! He did have lots of ear infections and got tubes around 9 months.

During my pregnancy with Adaline I never stressed about the labor and delivery because I knew it would be smooth and easy just like Lane's... I was really wrong!
TO BE CONTINUED.
